Our group of accredited investors meet monthly to discuss early-stage, high-growth opportunities. Prospective deals are accessible by any of our investors for review and participation. We treat our portfolio business owners as partners and provide them with value-added tools and insight.
Gold Coast investing members are required, by law, to be accredited investors and pay an annual membership fee of $3,000. With each transaction, Gold Coast also charges a 3-4% administrative fee.
When a portfolio company is acquired or experiences a liquidity event, Gold Coast only benefits if the exit was profitable. If a portfolio company is sold at a loss or break-even, all proceeds go the investors. Gold Coast receives nothing. However, if the transaction realizes a profit, Gold Coast receives 15-20% (depending on the specific deal) of the PROFIT realized from the transaction. Gold Coast only benefits from deals in which the investors realize a profit.
Completed applications for funding are reviewed by our team on a monthly basis. We shortlist the final candidates based on our criteria and each company is closely evaluated. One or two candidates will be selected per month to proceed to the next step.
Due diligence creates the basis of confidence for all parties involved. It becomes the foundation from which all Gold Coast Angel Investor solutions are developed. Our due diligence process can take up to 5 weeks. During this time, our priority is to interface with the organization’s management team and their actual prospective client base to determine true capacity for acquisition and growth.
Once an organization successfully completes our due diligence process, we take them on the “roadshow” to present to Gold Coast Investors. This can be multiple investment presentations given over the course of a week. Our target is one roadshow/investment per month, with one presenting organization requesting funding from our group.
Each of our members makes their own investment decision for each opportunity. The collective investment interest is consolidated into a single purpose LLC that invests into the target organization as a single shareholder. We aim to finalize the initial closing within a month after the completion of the roadshow.
When the investment is made and funds are transferred, a genuine partnership in growing the organization begins. One of our primary goals is to support our portfolio organizations in any way possible. We expect to have a board seat corresponding with our round of funding. We receive executive updates and timely financials to keep our investors in the loop. We can help forge connections to prospective customers, advisors, employees, and vendors. The experience and connections from our large pool of portfolio organizations add value to the Gold Coast Investment experience.
